Abstract Objective KeepCalm is a digital mental health application, co-designed with community partners, that incorporates wearable biosensing support for teams to address challenging behaviors and emotion dysregulation in children on the autism spectrum. Methods We followed user-centered design framework. Before app development, we conducted workshops, needs assessment interviews, systematic review, created an Expert Advisory Board. Once had working prototype, recruited 73 participants test help improve across five testing cycles. Results Participants rated cycles as highly acceptable, appropriate, feasible, good usability. Qualitative data indicated helped teachers (a) be aware of students’ previously unrealized triggers, especially nonspeaking students; (b) prevent behavioral episodes; (c) communicate parents about behaviors/strategies; (d) equipped knowledge strategies use at home. learned order make acceptable appropriate needed enjoyable/easy focus development novel features augment teachers’ skills (e.g., pattern stress detection). also importance maximizing feasibility, through in-person training/support regarding devices, having aides involved.
