Abstract
This
study
examines
the
relationship
between
political
attitudes,
affective
polarization,
and
fertility
preferences
among
married
couples
in
Hong
Kong.
Using
dyadic
data
from
a
representative
household
survey
(N
=
1586
heterosexually
adults),
we
investigate
how
individuals’
attitudes
toward
democracy
levels
of
polarization
are
associated
with
their
preferences.
We
also
explore
influence
spouses’
on
one's
found
that
individuals
stronger
support
for
have
lower
negative
association
is
further
amplified
by
one’s
level
polarization.
The
findings

paper
explores
the

participation

social
movement

intention
to
emigrate.
Drawing
from
data
collected
January
March
2021,
after
2019

Kong
had
subsided,
we
identified
two
important
findings
related

Diaspora
movements
are
campaigns
launched
by
migrant
minorities
who
maintain
allegiance
to
their
homelands.
This
article
investigates
the
recent
mobilization
of
Hongkonger,
Thai,
Burmese,
and
Ukrainian
diasporas
in
Taiwan
understand
factors
behind
tactical
choices.
While
existing
literature
pays
more
attention
protester-government
interaction
how
movement
leaders
decide
on
strategy,
we
contend
that
certain
pre-existing
characteristics
diaspora
communities
matter
more.
The
use
qualitative
comparative
analysis
(QCA)
leads
us
conclude:
(1)
ethnic
discrimination,
migrants'
class
position,
host
government's
support
do
not
affect
choices;
(2)
a
sufficiently
large
community
with
available
mobilizing
networks
makes
it
possible
recruit

resources

communities

queer
experiences
of
diasporic
Hongkongers

explored.

research,

LGBTIQ+

Taiwan
after
2019–2020
