Charter schools were originally envisioned as laboratories of innovation, but we have scant empirical evidence how charter policies and ideas spread beyond walls into the wider educational landscape. The diffusion knowledge reflects networks power, tracing can unearth discursive power dynamics at play. Using a systematic search publicly-available documents, this study investigated geographic one Management Organization (CMO)—Uncommon Schools—as case diffusion. Grounded in Critical Policy Analysis (CPA), found that artifacts located disproportionately higher poverty zip codes housing lower percentages non-Hispanic white people. We argue our findings reveal school discourse constructs specific type education targets socio-economically disadvantaged students Color. Further, imagines reaffirm inequalities production unjust geographies.
