Sense of coherence (SoC) can promote positive coping, and one its most prominent negative correlates is affectivity (NA). In the current study, we hypothesized that future past time perspectives (TPs) will mediate relationship between sense affectivity, inverse relationship. The study was questionnaire-based, performed online. N = 719 participants aged 25-45 from general Polish population took part. On correlation level, NA negatively related to TPs, positively TP. Future TPs were SoC, whereas TP SoC. partially mediated effect on indirect strongest for very weak TPs. full model accounted 52.9% variance in Only SoC NA. 29.8% results may serve as an inspiration integrate perspective aspects within salutogenic approaches understanding human behavior psychological interventions.

Smartphone addiction negatively affects physical and mental health. Future time perspective, a key personality social cognitive factor, may not only be protective factor for addictive behaviors but also shaped during the development of addiction. Based on three waves data collected from Chinese college students (N = 622, 46.95% male, Mage 18.16, SD 1.49), this study examined within-person between-person effects associations between future perspective smartphone The results traditional cross-lagged model demonstrated bidirectional negative association random intercept panel indicated reciprocal effect use consistently over while controlling significantly effect. Personality were measured in 1185 first- and second-year undergraduates (mean age = 19.11 years; 79% female). Written responses to "Tell us about how is impacting your life" coded using Linguistic Inquiry Word Count software. Negative binomial analyses run examine links between emotion word types used responses. Anxiety sensitivity was increased use anxiety words; hopelessness negative sadness words, decreased positive impulsivity anger words. Findings have implications personality-tailored interventions vulnerable distress resulting highly stressful situations such as pandemics.

The stressor vulnerability model provides theoretical support for conditions under which drinking to cope (DTC) is likely occur (i.e., decreased adaptive coping, increased positive alcohol expectancies). However, research has only tested this in a college sample reporting trauma. Generalizability non-trauma-specific drinkers would applications of the and inferences about coping-related across broader group young adults.
