Little research has examined the relevance of peer influences for impacting development dual systems model constructs and protective factors in these relationships among adolescents (Ages: 14-26; ∼86% male). This study deviant association predicting sensation-seeking impulse control moderating role resistance to influence. The Pathways Desistance data were analyzed. Mixed effects models direct effect on determine whether influence moderated relationships. Findings indicated that greater was associated with increased lower control. Resistance buffered control, as by a significant negative coefficient. Additional analyses this moderation only relevant at levels association. Moderation not observed sensation-seeking.

Design Multicentre, superiority, non-blinded randomized controlled trial. Random assignment was conducted in blocks varying sizes at central centre. Patients with treatment substance use disorders as usual (TAU, n = 80) Impulsive Lifestyle Counselling (ILC, 96). A total 165 patients could be linked criminal records 74; ILC, 91). Results mean number 2.76 TAU group (95% Poisson confidence interval [CI] 2.39, 3.16) 1.87 CI 0.97, 1.43).
