Using data from Project Implicit collected between 2005 and 2020, comprising 1,489,721 observations in 111 countries, we find that implicit explicit gender stereotypes about career family are more pronounced economically developed countries. Besides, these strongly correlated at the country level with differences values (such as values), self-reported personality traits agreeableness or dependence), occupational preferences health-related occupations), may account for fact imbalances “paradoxically” stronger countries (the so-called “gender equality paradox”). In line social role theory, our findings suggest there strong family, which least partly explain persistence even “paradoxical worsening” of a number despite generally high levels other areas.
