Objective: This study aims to provide an overview of pharmacological trials that examine the neurocognitive effects psychedelics among healthy individuals and patients with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or major depressive (MDD). Methods: The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews (PRISMA) was used as a guide structure report findings this review. A literature search included MEDLINE database up until December 2022. We randomized open-label human studies MDMA, psilocybin, mescaline, LSD, DMT, cannabis reporting non-emotionally charged outcomes (“cold cognition”) measured through validated neuropsychological tests. Results: total 43 full-text papers on MDMA (15), (12), LSD (6), psilocybin (9), DMT/ayahuasca (1), mescaline (0) were included, mostly subjects. single article MDMA’s cognition in subjects PTSD included; there no neurocognition MDD. Most reported detrimental neutral during peak effect few exceptions (e.g., improved psychomotor function). Performance type dimension attention, memory, executive function, psychomotor) varies by psychedelic, dosage, cognitive testing. Conclusions: Small samples lack uniformed methods across preclude unequivocal conclusions whether enhance, decrease, have significant performance. Background: As classic psychedelics’ therapeutic potential is studied and their popularity continues to rise, it important establish relative risks benefits.
