Makerspaces and Fab Labs are growing in number all over the world, holding potential to empower children adolescents. They form an important pathway provide young people with access digital manufacturing technologies while fostering self-determination, collaboration, creativity. We explore how engagement Lab based leisure maker activities may be promoted, taking into account both perspectives of adolescents surrounding systems. For this, we conducted focus group discussions N = 61 non-maker, adolescent girls boys from 6th 9th grade, scrutinize hindering promoting factors their activities, preferences regarding involvement parents, teachers peers considering ecological sustainability activities. A reflexive thematic analysis identified across different aspects such as purpose, location setting, content, learning processes. Implications for promotion design well implications further research, discussed.
