As an immune dysregulation-related disease, although ulcerative colitis (UC) primarily affects the intestinal tract, extraintestinal manifestations of disease are evident, particularly in oral cavity. The UC include specific nonspecific manifestations, with former including pyostomatitis vegetans latter encompassing recurrent aphthous ulcers, atrophic glossitis, burning mouth syndrome, angular cheilitis, dry mouth, taste change, halitosis, periodontitis. Abstract Burning mouth syndrome (BMS) is frequently accompanied by dysgeusia and xerostomia. Clonazepam has been widely prescribed effective, but it unclear whether clonazepam also affects the symptoms that accompany BMS, or such affect treatment outcomes. Here, we investigated therapeutic outcomes in BMS patients with various comorbidities. We retrospectively reviewed 41 diagnosed between June 2010 2021 at a single institution. Patients were instructed to take for 6 weeks. Before first dose, burning pain intensity was measured using visual analog scale (VAS); unstimulated salivary flow rate (USFR), psychologic characteristics, site(s) of pain, any taste disturbance evaluated. again after Thirty-one patents (75.7%) exhibited depressed mood, whereas more than 67.8% anxiety. Chronic facial pain of non-odontogenic cause less well known to neurologists despite being highly disabling. Given localization, these patients often consult dentists first who may conduct unnecessary dental interventions even if a is not identified. Once it becomes clear that modalities have no effect on pain, be referred another dentist or orofacial specialist, and later neurologist.
