This study aims to explore the awareness and perception of Diamond Open Access (DOA) among university professors in Iran, highlighting current understanding this model academic publishing. used a quantitative method assess professors’ perceptions Iran. A stratified random sampling technique was collect data from diverse faculties at University Birjand. structured questionnaire gathered demographic information, awareness, perceived benefits challenges, information sources, preferred licenses. Descriptive statistics, t -tests, ANOVA, factor analysis, Chi-Square tests were conducted identify patterns relationships data. The findings reveal moderate level regarding DOA participants, with significant number expressing concerns about credibility quality journals. There is recognition DOA’s potential democratize research access, though its specific features remains limited. Awareness varies significantly by discipline, social sciences humanities researchers demonstrating lower familiarity than their counterparts sciences. contributes ongoing discourse on open access providing empirical evidence within developing country context. It highlights critical gaps advocates for targeted educational initiatives enhance engagement model.
