Self-regulation has been intensely studied across developmental science disciplines in virtue of its significance to understanding and fostering adaptive functioning throughout life. Whereas research predominantly focused on self-regulatory abilities, age-related changes goals motivation that underlie self-regulation have largely neglected. In a systematic meta-review, we disentangle the development abilities from between infancy adolescence. We further investigate roles parents, teachers, peers socialization separately motivation. searched reviews meta-analyses typical (0–18 years), identifying 1,935 records, which 136 articles were included. Results show develops being co-regulated an independent yet socially-calibrated process demonstrate continuity as well transitions goals, employed for self-regulation, pinpoint exact role various social agents involved these processes. Our meta-review yields detailed description adolescence, providing starting point future intervention work regarding key processes be considered when targeting particular age group.

Adolescents' self-control develops in the context of mental health and family functioning, but it is unclear how interplay self-control, health, functioning unfolds across time within individuals. Separating within-person from between-person effects, random-intercept cross-lagged panel models were applied to adolescents (from ages 11 26) a Dutch cohort (n = 2228, 51% female). Adolescents with low likely have problems poorly families. Although changes study variables not meaningfully associated reciprocal manner, concurrently associated. This suggests that besides stable connections between adolescence young adulthood, are developmentally linked as well.

Nowadays, parents, caretakers, teachers and researchers have an increasing interest in the development consequences of problematic social media use, especially among adolescents. A growing body research investigates factors that may influence use. This study examined role broader context parental (time spent with parents family support), peer (peer support pressure), individual (perceived self-control) adolescents' risky use (ref = normative), as well moderating self-control by using a longitudinal design. Adolescents (N 1384) aged 11–19 years (Mage 14.1, SD 1.03) were included completed self-report questionnaire twice (6-month interval). Multinomial Logistic Regression showed parent predicted but not media. Adolescents’ level did modify these relationships. However, low increase odds developing or directly. Background Various perspectives on the existence and degree of motivation, which is a crucial factor influencing human behavior, have been studied for many years. Especially in adolescence, phase marked by rapid change, motivation plays role supporting young people to achieve their goals, fulfill responsibilities, experience healthy development. Aims The present study aims investigate structural relationships among perceived parental autonomy support, satisfaction psychological needs, self-control, academic motivation. Sample was conducted with total 427 high school students, including 230 females 197 males, aged between 14 19 (M = 15.82; SD 1.02). Method Participants completed self-report measures needs satisfaction, self-control. Structural equation modeling performed explore complex variables interest. Results revealed that increased as support increased, self-control also needs. It found positively related both intrinsic extrinsic Additionally, associated decreased amotivation. In addition, it has an indirect relationship through Conclusion believed these connections will lead deeper understanding significant processes adolescence serve foundation developing implementing psycho-educational interventions variables.
