In this article, we draw on the concepts of lifestyle movements and Do-It-Yourself culture to explore activist identity practice among grassroots groups in Brisbane, Australia. Although ethos is often conceptualised terms countercultural ideology linking music, politics aesthetics, examine it here as a core characteristic creative resistance organising. We present case study an blockade camp emerging during COVID-19 lockdown Brisbane 2020 lifestyles Australian context reflect possibilities radicalisation collective affinities through practices. The impact early socio-economic disruptions that followed provide interesting backdrop against which development within social movements. Our findings illustrate potential beyond localised campaigns, while reinforcing relevance using frameworks theorise culture.
