A challenge for evolutionary developmental (evo-devo) biology is to expand the breadth of research organisms used investigate how animal diversity has evolved through changes in embryonic development. New experimental systems should couple a relevant phylogenetic position with available molecular tools and genomic resources. As phylum sister group chordates, echinoderms extensively contributed our knowledge patterning, organ development cell-type evolution. Echinoderms display variety larval forms diverse shapes, making them suitable compare evolution strategies. However, because laboratory accessibility already techniques, most studies focus on sea urchins stars mainly. comparative approach, field would benefit from including information other members this group, like cucumbers (holothuroids), which little known basis their Here, we review spawning culture methods, morphological information, current state transcriptomic resources cucumbers. With goal system accessible broader community, discuss cucumber embryos larvae can be powerful address open questions evo-devo, understanding origins bilaterian structures.

Overfishing and habitat destruction have decimated wild sea cucumber (Apostichopus japonicus) stocks, causing this species to become endangered. Several conservation measures been implemented assist in the recovery of A. japonicus. Due low efficiency conventional domestication methods current prevalence bottom-sowing culture marine ranches, it is urgent evaluate genetic diversity population structure geographical groups natural seas northern China using genome-wide molecular markers. In study, six were collected from ranches Shandong, Hebei, Liaoning provinces. A total 18,191 high-quality single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) identified 70 japonicus individuals 2b-RAD technology. These SNPs used assess groups. Compared with previous studies, these showed much lower levels both among between groups, all clustering into one population. findings demonstrate necessity continuous monitoring China. Furthermore, study serves as a valuable reference for future genome-assisted breeding germplasm improvement economically critical species.

In this study, fifteen morphometric and nine meristic traits have been examined of the Scorpaena scrofa, elongata, notata, Helicolenus dactylopterus species from Antalya Bay. The results showed that S. scrofa total length ranged 109.29 to 271.12 mm was characterized by dark spots on its spinous dorsal spines between 6th 11th. elongata 153.61 248.67 mm. On other hand, notata is a 131.28 305.24 supraocular tentacle. H. 110.87 306.23 linear length-length relationships allometric growth pattern were also investigated. For all species, correlations different measurements significant difference (p <0.05). R2 correlation coefficient 0.752 0.988 for 0.485 0.959 0.207 0.975 and, 0.417 0.926 dactylopterus, respectively. Thus, study may provide useful information conservation sustainable management these important fish species.
