Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) is a multifunctional soil bacterium known for its insecticidal properties. Bt 1012 the first strain reported worldwide to effectively control hemipteran pests and has outstanding application potential. It was subjected whole-genome sequencing (WGS), annotation, functional analysis, with aim of mining genes responsible producing putative proteins virulence factors, as well associated plant growth promotion root colonization traits. Bioassay results indicated that crystals could nymphs adults Laodelphax striatellus. The WGS showed genome 5.72 Mb long GC content 35.29% contains four small plasmids. plasmid pBT1012-1 identified key carrier containing genes, encoding not only mpp64Ba1/mpp64Ca1, but also three new cry11, vpa2, vpb4. found encode 75 including several types enterotoxins, cereulides, immune inhibitor A, chitinases. Functional gene revealed 13 clusters related features, these are involved in phosphate solubilization, siderophore production, metal chelation, motility, quorum sensing. This report on targets pests. study just pesticide multiple it significant potential colonization, indicating biofertilizer. Our findings advance ongoing search novel toxins factors while deepening our understanding interactions between beneficial bacteria plants/insects, providing scientific foundation pest pathogen suppression strategies. © 2025 Society Chemical Industry.
