The Huang-huai goat, indigenous to China’s Huang-Huai Plain, is celebrated for its exceptional reproductive capacity, succulent meat, and superior leather qualities. goat’s characteristics, genetic diversity, the underpinnings of intersexuality, aiming inform conservation efforts resource management. Our study at Goat Science Technology R&D Center monitored 600–800 female goats 16–24 male from June 2020 May 2022, adhering NIH guidelines with ethical approval Henan University Animal Husbandry Economics . findings indicate that these exhibit a year-round estrus cycle averaging 19–23 days, gestation period 146–150 an average litter size 2.74, annual reproduction rate 418.96% weaning survival 94.75%. Transcriptome sequencing identified eleven candidate genes associated multiple offspring, including PTX3 , MMP13 NR4A1 which play roles in organ development hormonal regulation. SNP analysis revealed specific genotypes GJB6 PRKAA1 linked higher lambing numbers, offering molecular markers selective breeding. also highlighted role Polled Intersex Syndrome (PIS) locus causing both hornless intersexual traits, emphasizing importance screening maintaining breed health productivity. resources recognized as national geographical indication product, are vital livestock industry require strategic sustainable development. This review highlights preserving utilizing goat enhance contribution agriculture.
