Sorption is here proposed as a promising approach for metal pre-concentration and recovery from wastewater. A study was carried out on the simultaneous sorption of Co2+, Cu2+, Ni2+ Zn2+ macroalgae, microalgae cyanobacteria. The effect pH, initial concentration, competition time contact were evaluated. Metal hampers at studied concentration ranges. counterion (sulfate, chloride or acetate) did not influence sorption. brown algae Sargassum sp. most sorbent (qmax = 0.66 ± 0.03 mmol·g−1), followed by Phaeodactylum tricornutum 0.36 0.02 mmol·g−1) cyanobacteria Spirulina 0.216 0.007 mmol·g−1). All biomass samples showed preferential Cu2+. experimental kinetic data well described Ho's model, showing chemisorption to be main mechanism. Ion-exchange Ca2+, K+ H+ also played significant role in After sorption, achieved resorting incineration. content obtained biochar 4639-fold higher when compared aqueous solution concentration.

In recent years, overexplorations of ore and the growth industries are prime factors in release heavy metals environments. As a result, food crops water bodies contaminated with which may have several adverse effects on health humans other living species. These metalloids, such as Zn, Cu, Mn, Ni, Cr, Pb, Cd, As, upset biochemical pathways metabolite synthesis organisms contribute to etiology different diseases. Microorganisms include bacteria, archaea, viruses, many unicellular eukaryotes, can span three domains life—Archaea, Bacteria, Eukarya—and some microorganisms, cyanobacteria, shown high efficiency biosorption rate metals. Cyanobacteria suitable for bioremediation they grow environments, less negative impact surrounding environment, relatively cheaper manage. The structure cyanobacteria has no extensive internal-bound membranes, so it directly employ physiological mechanisms uptake from contamination sites. Such makeups managing bioremediating metal concentrations polluted This review aims explore potential metalloids bodies. Additionally, we identified prospects enhancing effectiveness.

Nostoc sp. is a cyanobacterium identified in several localities of Ecuador, and it exhibits significant potential the pharmaceutical, food, environmental sectors, which urges exploration its possible applications country. Macrocolonies were collected at different seasons, content metals, sulfur, biochemical composition was analyzed according to altitude geographic position. The results showed that average carbohydrate corresponds 30.34% dry biomass, 27.38% ash, 25.33% protein, 7.66% crude fiber, 0.71% fat. Regarding metals elements, found Aluminum presented highest value 2049.23 mg/kg, followed by 1786.74 1364.08 443.12 mg/kg Fe, Mg, S, respectively, with lowest for Cu, Ni, Pb, Cd 7.34 5.62 3.99 0.74 mg/kg; respectively; following descending order: Al>Fe>Mg>S>Cu>Ni>Pb>Cd all sites sampled regardless period rain or drought.
