Heavy metals occur naturally in the environment, and their concentration varies soil across different regions. However, presence of heavy may influence antimicrobial resistance (AMR) bacterial populations. Therefore, objective this study was to investigate characterise profiles Enterobacterales bovine milk filters from high low zinc-containing regions Ireland. In total, 50 samples 29 were collected two geographic locations with varying zinc concentrations. Samples cultured for enumeration detection Enterobacterales. Specifically, extended-spectrum beta-lactamase-producing Enterobacterales, carbapenem-resistant ciprofloxacin-resistant isolated using selective media. Species identification performed MALDI-TOF. The phenotypic selected determined by disk diffusion testing, following EUCAST CLSI criteria; while, genotypic same isolates whole genome sequencing (WGS). metal concentrations also measured all samples. A total 40 resistant identified (n = 31) 9). predominant species detected region Escherichia coli both sample types (soil n 10, 2), while Serratia fonticola 8) E. 4). Ten multidrug resistant, showing antimicrobials tested, except carbapenems. WGS findings confirmed results. Moreover, resistance-associated genes encoding efflux pumps identified. current revealed distinct regions, highlighted benefit utilising AMR surveillance dairy production.
