Abstract Background Studies of nutritional status in geriatric patients with respiratory diseases are limited. The aim this study was to investigate the mortality risk older undergoing urgent hospitalization for various diseases. Methods This a retrospective aged ≥ 65 years who were urgently hospitalized between April 2022 and November 2024. Mini Nutritional Assessment Short-Form (MNA-SF) evaluated at time admission, malnutrition defined by MNA-SF score < 11. Comorbidities frailty assessed using Charlson comorbidity index (CCI) Clinical scale (CFS), respectively. Biomarkers inflammation acute failure such as neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), Glasgow Prognostic Score (GPS), Respiratory rate-oxygenation (ROX) index, pulse oximetric saturation (SpO 2 )/fraction inspired oxygen (FiO ) [S/F] calculated analyzed factors in-hospital mortality. Results A total 168 consecutive enrolled median age 77 (interquartile range [IQR]: 72–84). Thirty-nine (23.2%) died during hospitalization, death 17 days (IQR: 10–25). Univariate analysis demonstrated that (> years), low S/F (< 315), ROX 8.3), high NLR 6), CFS 5), 11) associated mortality, multivariate revealed an independent predictor. Conclusions is factor due
