This study aimed to prepare and apply nanocapsules containing glycerol monolaurate for eradicating Streptococcus mutans biofilms. The interfacial deposition method of the preformed polymer synthesized characterized mean diameter, polydispersity index, zeta potential, pH, morphology by transmission electron microscopy. microdilution investigated antimicrobial activity. Crystal violet staining determined biomass quantification ability inhibit biofilm formation. also measured exopolysaccharide production number viable colonies. characterization outcomes indicated acceptable values diameter 198.1 ± 2, a index 0.087 0.018, potential -21.30 2.00 mV, pH 6.19 0.12, typical nanostructure morphology. evaluations minimum inhibitory bactericidal concentrations (free nanoencapsulated) revealed their ineffectiveness in inhibiting microorganisms. The COVID-19 pandemic has stimulated the search for effective preventive and therapeutic agents. In recent years, many studies have considered effects of different nutrients. This study aimed to investigate association between serum monolaurin levels risk developing among healthcare workers. this prospective observational cohort study, 2712 workers from University Hospital “Maggiore della Carità” in Novara, Italy were enrolled. Participants underwent blood sampling followed up six months evaluate protective role against infection. Monolaurin quantified using targeted metabolomic analysis. consisted 1000 individuals with a mean age 46.4 predominantly female. Higher concentrations significantly associated lower SARS-CoV-2 infection at both 3- 6-month follow-ups. optimal cut-off value monolaurin, which provides efficacy, was identified as 0.45 µg/mL. appear be reduced COVID-19, suggesting its potential dietary supplement contributes growing body evidence supporting factors management prevention infectious diseases highlights metabolomics identifying prophylactic biomarkers.

Abstract This study investigated the antibacterial activity of a novel compound, Hydrolyzed Palm Kernel Oil and Red Super Olein Blend (HPRB), against Gram-negative (Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhi) Gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus) bacteria. HPRB was synthesized through enzymatic hydrolysis with four different ratios palm kernel oil (PKO) red super olein (RPSO). The evaluated using disc diffusion microdilution methods. results showed that HPRB-C (60% PKO, 40% RPSO) HPRB-D (80% 20% exhibited highest all bacteria tested, attributed to high concentration 1-monolaurin (17.54% 24.99%, respectively). phytonutrient content also contributed HPRB. has potential be used as natural agent.
