Prenatal
maternal
psychological
distress,
particularly
depression,
has
been
increasingly
recognized
as
a
factor
influencing
fetal
growth;
however,
its
impact
on
early
childhood
development
remains
less
well
understood.
This
study
investigated
the
association
between
prenatal
depression
and
children's
growth
trajectories,
odds
of
overweight
obesity
from
1
to
36
months,
while
also
accounting
for
anxiety
stress.
We
analyzed
data
4
710
mother-child
dyads
in
Jiangsu
Birth
Cohort,
assessing
distress
across
trimesters
categorizing
participants
into
mild,
moderate,
more
groups.
Children's
weight-for-length
z-scores
(WLZ)
were
used
assess
overweight/obesity
prevalence,
patterns
identified
through
trajectory
models.
The
results
generalized
estimating
equations
(GEE)
analysis
showed
that
depressive
symptomatology
during
pregnancy
was
associated
with
28%-41%
increase
all
three
trimesters,
compared
mild
symptomatology.

Introduction
Prenatal
mental
health
problems

Abstract
Purpose
