Severe or chronic stress and trauma can have a detrimental impact on health. Evidence suggests that early-life adversity become biologically embedded has the potential to influence health outcomes decades later. Epigenetics is one mechanism been implicated in these long-lasting effects. Observational studies humans indicate effects of could even persist across generations, although whether not epigenetic mechanisms are involved remains under debate. Here, we provide an overview animals demonstrate DNA methylation, most widely studied mechanisms, summarize findings from animal models demonstrating involvement epigenetics transmission generations. Abstract Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can develop after trauma exposure. Some studies report that women PTSD at twice the rate of men, despite greater exposure in men. Lipids and their metabolites (lipidome) regulate a myriad key biological processes pathways such as membrane integrity, oxidative stress, neuroinflammation brain by maintaining neuronal connectivity homeostasis. In this study, we analyzed lipidome 40 adults with trauma-exposed non-PTSD individuals (n = 20/sex/condition; 19–39 years old). Plasma samples were for lipidomics using Quadrupole Time-of-Flight (QToF) mass spectrometry. Additionally, ~ 90 measures collected, on sleep, mental physical health indices. The lifetime prevalence of PTSD ranges from 6 to 20% and is often associated with comorbid disorders. Despite the significant impact PTSD, specific data on healthcare utilization related remain limited. This study aims characterize PTSD-related hospitalizations in France over past decade. nationwide longitudinal retrospective analyzed 2013 2022 using French National Hospitals Database. Data included discharge records general psychiatric hospitals, detailing demographics, admission/discharge dates, ICD-10 diagnoses, hospitalization specifics. Between 2022, 69,108 patients underwent 125,349 a diagnosis (0.4% all inpatient cases) France. Psychiatric facilities accounted for 74,988 (1% cases France), while hospitals recorded 50,361 (0.02% non-psychiatric cases). percentage inpatients diagnosed increased 0.68 2.22% 0.02 0.04% period. Females were younger both settings had longer stays compared males facilities. Over time, there was decrease median age an increase part-time Mood disorders, stress-related substance use disorders prevalent comorbidities settings. highlights rise France, particularly after 2019, high rates among women individuals. Objective A recent trial found that Transcendental Meditation (TM) was an effective non-trauma focused treatment for veterans with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The objective of this analysis to examine the cost-effectiveness TM PTSD based on results. Methods Between 2013–2017, 203 were randomized either TM, Prolonged Exposure (PE), or a health education (HE) control. Each group received 12 sessions over weeks. Results indicated non-inferior PE improving outcomes and both superior HE, as hypothesized. proportion participants clinically significant improvement CAPS (≥10 point reduction) = 61%, 42%, HE 32%.
