Background Physical therapists and athletic trainers play an important role in promoting physical activity to patients may utilize the 2018 United States Activity Guidelines (PAG). Currently, there is little data regarding how maintain their personal fitness based upon these guidelines. Purpose To analyze Guidelines. Study Design Cross-sectional descriptive survey Methods A 20-question electronic was emailed members of Academy Orthopedic Therapy National Athletic Trainers Association. Professionals were also informed through a recruitment post different private healthcare Facebook® groups. Survey inclusion criteria included respondents being therapist or trainer clinical practice. Respondents excluded if they did not meet inclusions. The PAG used as minimum standard comparison for report activity. developed using Qualtrics underwent two rounds pilot testing establish face validity. covered respondent demographics, exercise behaviors, reasons exercise, programming assessment, barriers, monitoring health & wellness, satisfaction with have maintained own fitness. Descriptive statistics calculate total responses, frequency count, percentages. Results One thousand one hundred forty seven professionals (Women =58%, N= 665; Men = 41%, N=472; other 1%, N=10) (mean age 48 ± 15.75 years-old) completed survey. Most (~ 82%) reported meeting exceeding aerobic muscle-strengthening while integrated approach self-guided workouts (73%) settings such home (65%) facility (30%). dedicated average 14 hours per week exercise. smaller portion displeasure current program which be related barriers work schedule, lack time, family commitments, low intrinsic motivation, energy. Conclusion These results provide insight into majority demonstrated good behaviors by guidelines due various displeasure.
