This paper examines the dynamic effects of COVID-19 pandemic on healthcare utilization and underlying mechanisms, using high-frequency medical claims data that cover entire Korean population from 2019 to 2021. By employing an individual fixed-effects model, we show substantial reductions in outpatient visits hospital admissions during period. Moreover, observe declines are more pronounced among children under 20, higher income group, unemployed patients with mild illnesses. However, decreased do not appear be correlated increase ambulatory care sensitive condition (ACSC) hospitalizations. may suggest a reduction unnecessary use pandemic.
