The present review describes the use and effectiveness of mental imagery in Alzheimer’s disease-related dementia. Six databases were thoroughly searched from January 2010 to December 2024. Different types studies retrieved reviewed for motor, cognitive, emotional states quality life elderly with Although scarce results showed positive effect every-day older adults dementia, more research should be conducted larger homogenous samples valid tools. Future recommendations are provided.

Chronic nonspecific low back pain (CNSLBP) might be associated with increased sensitivity and inflammation. High-intensity interval training (HIIT) has been suggested to reduce outcomes inflammatory markers, but its effects compared moderate-intensity continuous (MICT) remain unclear. This study aimed evaluate the acute of HIIT on markers in persons CNSLBP healthy controls (HCs) determine how these differ from MICT. Twenty twenty HCs were assessed before (PRE) after (POST) a single MICT protocol for (cuff pressure threshold (cPPT), temporal summation (TS), conditioned modulation (CPM)), (IL-6, TNF-α). Data analyzed using one-way ANOVAs, paired t-tests, correlation analyses. At PRE, exhibited lower cPPT (28.2 ± 7.1, Δ = −5.5, p 0.040), higher TS (1.11 0.89, 0.79, 0.042), CPM (36.2 11.6, −10.0, 0.023) HCs. resulted PRE–POST improvements (38.9 12.6, 5.2, 0.019) No differences observed processing those CLBP. PRE or either group. The current exploratory suggests that session have beneficial effect does not alter CNSLBP. Further research is needed clarify involved mechanisms explore (relation the) long-term HIIT.

Abstract Background Patients with head and neck cancer (HNC) receiving radiation therapy (RT) are at increased risk for symptoms of oral mucositis (OM), opioid use, declines in physical function, outcomes that contribute to morbidity mortality. The study objective was determine the effects respiratory muscle training (RMT) on OM as well functional performance patients HNC RT or without concurrent chemotherapy (CCRT). Methods aged ≥ 18 years age stage I IV being treated CCRT a home-based ( n = 20) were compared 5:1 matched historical group 100) who did not receive RMT. RMT delivered using commercially available Power Lung AireStream device (Houston, TX) via standardized inspiratory expiratory muscle-training program requiring ~ 20–30 min/day, five days per week, progressively increasing workload. Primary endpoints collected from all included changes use opioids pain control following start RT. Secondary strength (Six-Minute Walk Test, 6MWT; Short Physical Performance Battery, SPPB). All measures assessed before within 1–2 weeks standard 7-week regimen. Results reduced impact self-reported swallowing soreness p 0.032), eating 0.036), 0.015). maintained (+ 0.6 ± cmH2O, 0.87), 0.7 12.7 0.197), improved 6MWT 20 39.9 m, 0.025), no change SPPB total score 0.262). Conclusions is low-cost intervention easy perform among undergoing RT/RTCC likely reduce pain/symptoms opioid, preserve function during treatment. Trial registration Not applicable. This retrospective cohort registered it nonrandomized trial group.
