Background/Objectives: Oral frailty, first identified in Japan 2014, refers to a state between healthy oral function and severe decline, marked by minor issues, such as tooth loss chewing difficulties. The frailty five-item checklist (OF-5) enables non-dental professionals evaluate using five key indicators: remaining teeth count, difficulties, swallowing dry mouth, articulatory skills. Limited studies exist. Methods: This study examined the relationship physical frailties older adults assessed prognosis of OF-5. Participants aged ≥65 years were recruited from frail elderly Sasayama–Tamba area, Hyogo, Japan, their was terms grip strength, walking speed, skeletal muscle mass. Blood markers, cystatin C, an indicator renal function, also analyzed. Results: A cross-sectional analysis indicated that correlated with reduced mass, function. Women had lower hemoglobin albumin levels greater prevalence than men. Longitudinal revealed initial OF-5 scores predicted increased after 2–3 years, especially those higher baseline scores. significant factor for progression both sexes. Conclusions: These results suggest early detection via may be useful preventing overall adults.

Oral frailty is one of the easily overlooked complications in patients with cancer, which as important dietary dysfunction, malnutrition and other complications. However, limited research exists on factors influencing oral cancer undergoing chemotherapy. The objective this study to investigate incidence chemotherapy analyze that influence it. A convenience sampling method was used select from three tertiary hospitals Chengdu, Sichuan Province. Frailty Index-8 (OFI-8) utilized assess patients' status. Chemotherapy-induced Taste Alteration Scale(CiTAS), Acceptance Illness Scale(AIS), Family Adaptation, Partnership, Growth, Affection, Resolve Index(APGAR) were taste changes, levels acceptance illness, family functioning levels, respectively. Additionally, descriptive analysis, univariate multiple linear stepwise regression analysis conducted. among found be 57.58%. positively correlated chemotherapy-induced alteration, while it negatively illness functioning. Furthermore, revealed such disease duration, history radiation therapy, dry mouth, dentures, significantly influenced these patients, accounting for a total variance 54.6%. notably high Several factors, use functioning, affect degree frailty. This highlights necessity healthcare providers implement preventive management strategies based modify care plans accordingly prevent or mitigate onset progression

Abstract Background Population aging is increasing globally, with oral frailty affecting 24% of the older population. Previous studies have demonstrated relationship between and poor health symptoms but interactions core among these remain vague. Objective To clarify symptoms, explore intrinsic connections identify to provide more effective management treatment strategies for related issues. Methods The study conducted a cross-sectional from January 2024 April 2024, included 547 participants using convenient sampling method. adopted Geriatric Self-Efficacy Scale Oral Health (GSEOH), Frailty Index-8, FRAIL scale, including simplified hygiene index score (OHI-S), plaque index, periodontal pocket depth gingival teeth numbers tooth mobility index. T-test, Chi-Square test, Mann–Whitney test binary logistic regression were used frailty, symptom network analysis subgroup symptoms. Results found that while number GSEOH significantly associated (teeth number: β = -0.262, P 0.013) (GSEOH: -0.056, 0.000), centrality was lowest compared other status (CI-S index), in adults, strongest bridge node. Conclusion explored analysis. recommended communities implement routine functional assessments increase denture restoration rate at an early stage, as well educational promotional programs aimed maintaining function. Future research should further analyze causal relationships particularly depth, overall frailty.

With the increase in age, oral function of older adults shows an age-related decline, which limits types, quantity, and quality their diet. Limited dietary intake can lead to a lack basic nutrients needed for maintaining health, induce series diseases, further aggravate deterioration functions. Oral frailty is accumulation mild decline emerging concept field health. Currently, research on mostly focuses impact single-dimensional intake, structure, satisfaction adults, as well different structures status health among adults. There still large-sample, high-quality relationship between comprehensive intake. In addition, existing intervention measures often place narrow emphasis exercise recovery without considering nutritional development frailty. Relevant taking entry point or using it method also needs be explored by researchers. future, specialized assessment screening may introduced routine management practices Furthermore, targeted programs could proposed based characteristics habits so prevent functional related supplementation. Herein, we reviewed correlation provide new ideas directions formulating strategies

An Frailty Index-8 score 4 was used define group, while a of 0–3 non-oral group. A multivariate logistic regression analysis conducted as dependent variable items survey independent variables. total 1,386 participants included this study, 761 (54.9%) had frailty. Multivariate showed that number natural teeth (fewer than 20), benzodiazepine significantly associated (p < 0.001, p = 0.037, respectively).
