Atherosclerosis (AS) is a chronic inflammatory vascular disease closely tied to cellular metabolism. Recent genome-wide association study data have suggested the significant roles of endothelial cells, smooth muscle and macrophages in regression exacerbation AS. However, impact crosstalk metabolic derangements on progression AS vaguely understood. In this review, we analyze three cell types We also summarize between two them, associated molecules consequences involved. addition, emphasize potential therapeutic targets highlight importance three-cell co-culture model extracellular vesicles AS-related research, providing ideas for future studies.
