Coronary atherosclerosis in patients with diabetes mellitus is the most significant pathophysiological mechanism responsible for ischemic heart disease. Atherosclerosis premature, more diffuse, and progressive, it affects coronary blood vessels compared to non-diabetics. begins endothelial dysfunction, continues formation of fatty streaks intima arteries, ends appearance an atherosclerotic plaque that expands centrifugally remodels artery. If injured, a thrombus forms at site damage, which can lead vessel occlusion potentially fatal consequences. Diabetes are connected through several pathological pathways. Among factors diabetics hyperglycemia, insulin resistance, oxidative stress, dyslipidemia, chronic inflammation. Chronic inflammation currently considered one important development atherosclerosis. However, date, no adequate anti-inflammatory therapeutic measures have been found prevent progression process, they remain subject ongoing research. In this review, we summarize mechanisms link mellitus.
