The ellipsoidal formula is the most common method used to determine volume of fibroids on MR images. Labor-intensive manual segmentation provides opportunity measure a given lesion voxel basis. aim this study compare uterine fibroid calculated using voxel-based and ellipsoid formula. In study, pretreatment MRI scans patients who underwent artery embolization due symptomatic were retrospectively collected between 2016 2022. data largest was determined by (group S) as reference standard. addition, diameters in three planes (D1/D2/D3) also measured volumes estimated (D1*D2*D3*0.5233) E). interobserver reproducibility diameter measurements tested. values (median, IQR) compared; differences segmented recorded. Statistical analysis performed Kruskal-Wallis test, Wilcoxon's two-sided signed rank intraclass correlation (ICC) analysis, Bland-Altman plots. Pretreatment 113 identified. Fibroids where difference diameter-based reached 30% excluded resulting 99 final dataset. group S E showed no significant with 134.1 (257.3) cm3 133.5 (269.1) cm3, respectively, an average 3.47 (0.25%; p = 0.377). agreement two methods excellent (ICC 0.979), without across locations. 46 cases (46.5%), larger, 53 (53.5%), larger. However, outside ± 20% range 21 (21.2%) 10 (10.1%); approximately 56.5% (156.5 cm3). formula-based calculation for whole. there > 21.2% 10.1% cases. era personalized medicine, it not only that need be considered but or results should highlighted, these may change treatment plan individual This methodology tested other tumor-type calculations.
