Significance: Mitochondria undergo constant morphological changes through fusion, fission, and mitophagy. As the key organelle in cells, mitochondria are responsible for numerous essential cellular functions such as metabolism, regulation of calcium (Ca2+), generation reactive oxygen species, initiation apoptosis. Unsurprisingly, mitochondrial dysfunctions underlie many pathologies including cancer. Recent Advances: Currently, gold standard cancer treatment is chemotherapy, radiation, surgery. However, efficacy these treatments varies across different cells. It has been suggested that may be at center diverse responses. In past decade, significant advances have made understanding distinct types Through investigations underlying mechanisms, more effective options developed. Critical Issues: We summarize various progression led to development therapeutic options. Current mitochondrial-targeted therapies challenges discussed. Future Directions: To address “root” cancer, utilization therapy target stem cells valuable. Investigation other areas trafficking offer new insights into therapy. Moreover, common antibiotics could explored mitocans, synthetic lethality screens can utilized overcome plasticity

Long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) have emerged as crucial regulators for a myriad of biological processes, and perturbations in their cellular expression levels often been associated with cancer pathogenesis. In this study, we identified AATBC (apoptosis‐associated transcript bladder cancer, LOC284837) novel lncRNA. was found to be highly expressed nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), increased poor survival patients NPC. Furthermore, promoted migration invasion NPC cells vitro, well metastasis vivo . upregulated the desmosome‐associated protein pinin (PNN) through miR‐1237‐3p sponging. turn, PNN interacted epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) activator ZEB1 promote EMT cells. Collectively, our results indicate that promotes progression miR‐1237‐3p–PNN–ZEB1 axis. Our findings potential prognostic biomarker or therapeutic target

Objective: To investigate the correlation between BRAF V600E gene mutation and clinicopathological features thyroid function after iodine-131 treatment in patients with papillary cancer (PTC).Methods: A total of 128 PTC who underwent a thyroidectomy from February 2015 to November 2016 at Hunan Cancer Hospital, China, were recruited. There 25 males 103 females. The age range was 11 73 years old.The tumor tissues detected by amplification-restriction system polymerase chain reaction (ARMS-PCR), serum levels Tg, TSH, Tg-Ab, Tpo-Ab measured chemiluminescence treatment. The shown be associated characteristics indicators treatment. Results: 75 (58.6%) observed more frequently cases elevated Tg (Tg>1.00)at 3, 6, 12, 18 months compared without any mutations (P<0.05).Patients had significant lower level Tg-Ab 3 12 than (P<0.05).Among patients, no association found TSH (P>0.05).The closely high-risk patient (≥45 old) (P<0.05),but there gender, clinical stage, distant metastasis. Conclusion:The is related elevation cancer. These findings suggest that this may predictor efficacy for cancer.
