Urban growth in sub-Saharan Africa presents significant challenges to sustainable development, food security, and environmental conservation. The rapid urban expansion impact on agricultural land reduction central Ethiopian metropolitan areas (Addis Ababa Sheger city) exemplify these issues while simultaneously offering opportunities for development. The dynamics of Land Use/Land Cover changes are crucial to environmental sustainability, socio-economic development, and spatial planning. These stem from complex interactions between human activities, natural processes, policies. In recent decades, LULC transformations have been linked global challenges such as biodiversity loss, climate change, resource degradation. Key drivers include urban sprawl, agricultural expansion abandonment, deforestation, emphasizing the need for effective frameworks monitor assess their impacts. This study investigates (LULC) in Tuscany (Italy) over period 2007 2019. To achieve this, statistical analyses were conducted quantify variations across different classes administrative territories represented by provincial local authorities. Specifically, data spanning five temporal intervals (2007, 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019) enabled a comprehensive comparative analysis persistence patterns. Changes assessed using approach based on Odds Ratios (OR). Additionally, Generalized Linear Models (GLMs) at level employed facilitate one-to-many comparisons evaluate significance observed changes. revealed that certain exhibit greater susceptibility compared others. categorized under ’Artificial Surfaces’ (LC_100) were, average, 6.7 times more likely undergo than those classified ’Agricultural Areas’ (LC_200) 11 ’Forest Semi-natural (LC_300). Abstract Research on land use change (LUC) is considered as one of the important studies contributing to assessment efficiency and development appropriate policies for sustainable in current urbanization period. Modeling a method simulating changes based understanding LUC laws forecasting future LUC. This study uses Markov chains simulate probability transition matrix forecast Ho Chi Minh (HCM) city by 2050. The research results show that three main groups HCM were agricultural land, residential water. group occupied largest area, but it has decreased nearly 10% from 2000 2020. In contrast, urban had strong increasing trend, with an increase 25% after 20 years. terms spatial distribution, tended develop directions: east, southwest, northwest. With accuracy 91%, predicts 2030, will still account more than half city’s 2050, this only less 40%. projected become 50%. As result, shows difference target 2030.

Land use and land cover (LULC) change represents a critical environmental challenge that significantly impacts the Earth’s systems ecosystem services leads to degradation economic loss. The main objective of this study was investigate trend LULC change, drivers, its on in Burayu sub-city, Shager City, Ethiopia. used satellite images from four time periods, Landsat Series sensors’ 4, 5, 8, at 10-year intervals understand spatial temporal dynamics by using integration GIS RS techniques under supervised classification system. Respondent interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), field observations were employed. In addition, address drivers changes area, multifaceted method followed observations. A modified benefit transfer evaluate service value (ESV) response change. revealed population growth, urbanization, agricultural expansion, infrastructure development driving composition area over past 30 years. Croplands have decreased 51.2% 30.3%, forest has dropped 32.9% 15%, grassland fallen 12.7% 6.1%. On other hand, settlement areas expanded 2.5% 46.9%, total natural capital $368.7million $227.0 million per year. Therefore, it is possible conclude significant declining values occurred area. local government should develop comprehensive plan, balance urban with preservation, strengthen law enforcement, increase public awareness minimize urbanization services.
