Background: Experiences of ostracism may be related to attitudes toward substance abuse. However, the protective factors underlying this relationship are still unclear. Therefore, based on Need-threat and Self-control theory, we aimed test a model in which self-control hope mediate between addictive substances. Methods: In model, highlighted risk (ostracism) (self-control hope). This study was cross-sectional data analysis 787 students (52.50% boys, 47.50% girls; Mage = 15.69, SD 1.12). Results: The results revealed that positively associated with substances, evidence provided mediated by self-control. Ultimately, research highlights link identifying as mediators. Conclusions: individual substances offers new perspectives ways prevent reduce adolescents' positive use. School counselors educators should help strengthen skills such them from developing use future.
