Aim: The purpose of this study was to obtain data concerning growth factor release within liquid and solid platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) matrices estimate the amount potential interindividual variations as a basis for further preclinical clinical trials. Therefore, we aimed determine possible differences in factors between PRF. Materials Methods: Blood samples obtained from four subjects were processed both PRF using standard centrifugation protocol. Five (vascular endothelial factor, VEGF; epidermal EGF; platelet-derived factor-BB, PDGF-BB; transforming factor-β1, TGF-β1; matrix metallopeptidase 9, MMP-9) have been evaluated at six time points by ELISA over total observation period 10 days (1 h, 7 1 d, 2 d). Results: Growth could be measured all each point. Comparing matrices, no significant detected (p > 0.05). mean VEGF, TGFβ-1, PDGF-BB, MMP-9 raised peak point five (day 7) matrices. VEGF lower than PRF, whereas those PDGF-BB higher points. EGF had its already two after h (hour solid: = 180 pg/mL, SD 81; liquid: 218 64), declined rapidly until day 2, second slight on groups 182 189; 81 70). Conclusions: This with little variations. Further trials are needed precisely analyze larger better understand their effects wound healing different indications.

After tooth extraction, the alveolar ridge undergoes a physiological process of remodelling and disuse atrophy. Socket augmentation (SA) has been shown to preserve bone volume in order facilitate implant placement reduce need for staged grafting at later date. Although autogenic be gold standard regeneration, it significant disadvantages. To prevent post-extraction volumetric alterations resorption occurring, alternative materials, including xenografts, alloplasts, allografts, have used successfully fresh extraction sites. However, these materials act mostly as bio-scaffolds require slower integration period 6–8 months prior placement. Recently, use autologous platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) advocated alongside socket method bio-enhancement healing soft hard tissues. PRF contains platelet-derived growth factors, hormones, bioactive components such cytokines that promote angiogenesis tissue regeneration during wound healing. Platelet concentrates (PCs), which are blood products that abundant in platelets and growth factors, have become pivotal treating maxillofacial tissue lesions due to their capacity for promoting bone soft recovery. This review will provide some recent progress of the use platelet treat on tissues. We reviewed mechanisms by PCs promote wound healing recovery summarized application treatment tissues, including medication-related osteonecrosis jaw, post-extraction healing, implant surgery, temporomandibular joint diseases, periodontal restoration. PC promotes attachment proliferation osteoblasts, as well synthesis deposition collagen fibers stimulating AFK pathway releasing factors cytokines, such secreting GFs, VEGF, TGF-β, etc. They also induce angiogenesis, inhibit resorption, relieve symptoms, reduce postoperative complications maintain stability. may be used an adjuvant therapy However, more studies should refine preparation methods establish a foundation extensive application.

Background: The relationship between dental implants and sinus mucoceles is an area of growing interest in oral maxillofacial surgery, as therapeutic approaches for these conditions remain controversial. This case report presents a 48-year-old male with no significant medical history who sought care due to recurrent abscesses on the distal abutment five-unit maxillary bridge. Clinical radiographic evaluations, including Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT), revealed pathologic lesion associated second molar, insufficient alveolar bone height posterior maxilla, radiopaque mass floor. Methods: A one-stage surgical approach was planned, involving molar extraction, cyst removal, floor elevation, simultaneous implant placement. prosthetic restoration completed six months postoperatively. Results: Over 88-month follow-up period, complications were observed, patient reported high satisfaction restoration’s function aesthetics. Conclusions: highlights single-stage strategy’s feasibility long-term success managing asymptomatic while optimizing placement rehabilitation.

Following tooth extraction, the bone structure is prone to atrophic changes. Alveolar ridge resorption can compromise subsequent implant treatment not only at extraction site itself but also by affecting support of adjacent teeth. Various techniques, including use graft materials or autologous blood concentrates for socket preservation, aim counteract this process. The efficacy such methods be evaluated non-invasively through radiological analysis treated region. However, existing evaluation often focus on isolated areas socket, limiting their accuracy in assessing overall regeneration. This study introduces a novel, non-invasive, and semi-automated image-based method that enables more comprehensive preservation using CBCT data. Developed with open-source software “Fiji” (v2.15.0; based ImageJ), approach assesses changes multiple horizontal vertical positions, creating near three-dimensional representation resorptive By analyzing entire region around rather than selected regions, provides precise reproducible assessment alveolar preservation. Although requires some processing time focuses exclusively evaluation, it offers greater conventional methods. Its standardized objective nature makes valuable tool clinical research, facilitating reliable comparisons different strategies.

Background and Objectives: Medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) was first recognized as a disease entity reported in literature 2003. Within few years, incidence MRONJ has increased significantly, to point where now it can be seen every dental clinic around world. Its prevention management still remain major challenges for dentists oral maxillofacial surgeons. Materials Methods: This prospective clinical study conducted at Oral Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic Timisoara 6-month period included total 85 patients under chronic antiresorptive antiangiogenic medication. There were two groups patients: G1 received PRF growth factors, while other group, G2, treated with classical surgical methods. Post-operative wound healing assessed 2, 4, 8 weeks by monitoring absence local gingival dehiscence, suprainfection, or loco-regional fistulas, both cases extractions sequestrectomies cases. Results: The use post-extraction sockets predisposed developing aids 96% cases, compared not used, which normal occurred only 64.29% patients; there significant difference between (p = 0.016). In confirmed application after excisional debridement necrotic bone does appear have same therapeutic value post-extractional sockets, p-value 0.299 indicating no statistical significance. Background Watertight closure of the dura mater is essential after neurosurgical interventions to avoid complications such meningitis, intracranial hypotension and surgical site infections. In addition conventional suturing techniques, various biomaterials have been proposed as sealants minimize risk leakage. We previously reported that patient derived platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), an autologous biomaterial, significantly improves watertight dural when applied onlay over a standard running suture. To demonstrate efficacy this method, we aimed compare orthobiological approach with other commercially available sealants. Methods utilized in vitro testing device allowed for assessment via hydrostatic testing. On our phantom using freshly harvested bovine maters, standardized 20-mm incision was closed suture, leak pressure measured initially without (primary pressure) subsequently on lay augmentation (secondary either PRF, fibrinogen- thrombin-coated collagen patch (TachoSil®), matrix graft (DuraGen®), Polyethylenglykol (PEG) polyethylene glycol ester trilysine amine hydrogel solution (DuraSeal®), glycol, protein-reactive monomer coated (Hemopatch®) or polyethylenimine component autospray sealant (Adherus®).
