Abstract Migration is one of the most pressing global issues our time. However, relatively little known about factors and mechanisms that govern post-migration experiences skilled migrants. We adopt an acculturation- social identity-based approach to examine how differences between institutional characteristics in destination origin country, as well migrants’ with formal informal institutions shape their identification country contribute community career embeddedness. Abstract This introductory paper, reflecting the Thematic Cluster of four papers, brings together two themes that are important for migration studies: return and embedding. This article contributes to the filling of this knowledge gap by studying likelihood engaging in mobility among Polish Lithuanian returnees.
