‘Firstly, I’m not treated like a fool.’—the perspective of people with dementia on a dementia-friendly hospital

Dementia-friendly
hospitals
are
increasingly
discussed
in
healthcare,
politics,
research
and
society
as
a
way
to
improve
hospital
stays
for
people
with
dementia.
However,
the
perspective
of
dementia
is
often
underrepresented,
current
definitions
concepts
primarily
based
on
expertise
healthcare
professionals.
To
identify
characteristics
dementia-friendly
from
A
qualitative
design
embedded
case
study
was
used.
We
conducted
15
semi-structured
interviews
during
their
stay.
The
were
analysed
using
reflexive
thematic
analysis
an
inductive
approach.
In
our
study,
we
adopted
participatory
approach
actively
involved
other
stakeholders
development

analysis.

Abstract
Background

Objectives
Providing
preferred
leisure
activities
appears
to
be
an
important
approach
support
empower
people
receiving
adult
day
services
(ADS)
allowing
them
age
in
place.
To
provide
the
conceptualization
for
a
preference
instrument,
we
actively
involved
ADS
exploring
content
structure
of
their
preferences
activities.
Research
Design
Methods
We
chose
concept
mapping
methodology

ADS.
systematically
reviewed
literature
conducted
semistructured
interviews
generate
set
80
preferences.
Analysis
structuring
these
resulted
3-dimensional
cube
with
12
clusters.

graphical
representation
was
then
interpreted,
