Metagenomic studies confirm that obesity is associated with a composition of gut microbiota. There are some controversies, however, about the microbial communities in obese individuals different populations. To examine association between body mass index and microbiota Ukrainian population, fecal concentrations Bacteroidetes, Firmicutes, Actinobacteria Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes (F/B) ratio were analyzed 61 adult individuals. The relative abundance was small (5–7%) comparable BMI categories. content Firmicutes gradually increased while Bacteroidetes decreased increasing (BMI). F/B also raised BMI. In an unadjusted logistic regression model, significantly (OR = 1.23, 95% CI 1,09–1,38). This continued to be significant after adjusting for confounders such as age, sex, tobacco smoking physical activity 1.33, 1,11–1,60). obtained data indicate persons Ukraine population have higher level lower compared normal-weight lean adults.
