Abstract Background: It is well known that recruitment a challenging aspect of any study involving human subjects. This challenge exacerbated when the population sought reticent to participate in research as case with pregnant women and individuals depression. paper compares methods used for Food, Feelings, Family Study, an observational, longitudinal concerning how diet bisphenol A exposure affect maternal mood cognitive function during after pregnancy. Methods: Pregnant were recruited this using traditional methods, social media including paid unpaid posts, emails broadcast university community. Contingency analysis Pearson’s Chi-square test was determine if method associated likelihood participation. T-tests analyze Facebook advertisement success. ANOVAs contingency maximum ratio related continuous categorical demographics, respectively. Results: Social resulted largest number recruits, followed by email. Women through less likely participate, part, because they meet eligibility criteria. In contrast, use email smaller pool recruits but these more be eligible complete study. Most via result posts study’s page. Paid lasting at least 4 days most successful. Recruitment not participant demographics. Conclusions: has potential recruit large subjects; however, studies require time investment such here, are than other means. Trial registration: N/A. does describe health care intervention.
