Abstract. Suroso, Iskandar J, Withaningsih S, Nurjaman D, BS. 2023. Bird population and bird hunting in the rural ecosystem of Cijambu, Sumedang, West Java, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 24: 4470-4484. Some Java ecosystems have a high species diversity because they forests, bamboo talun, mixed gardens, rice fields, homegardens. Rapid expansion, illicit shooting, forest degradation conversion, pesticide pollution reduced diversity. This study examined natural coffee agroforestry, vegetable hunting. Quantitative qualitative research were used. The point count approach investigates populations, whereas detailed interviews with knowledgeable informants are used to In 67 from 39 groups found. index three habitats: garden (H'=2.59), agroforestry (H'=2.97), (H'=2.96). Based on Sorensen Similarity Index, forest, had similarity 31.03%, 22.22%, 52.05%, respectively. These findings suggest that may prefer over gardens. system can generate complex vegetation canopy stratification multi-layered canopy, resembling stratification. The diversity is often used as an indicator the ecosystem balance area. One efforts to preserve protect made by fostering habitat I Grassland (Kebun Rumput Pangheotan, hereinafter grassland) PT. Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) VIII, Bandung District, Indonesia Wali Pohon Block Park (Taman Buru Gunung herein after TBGMK), This study aims determine two areas so that it can be basic data making planning strategies for maintaining increasing biodiversity. Bird collection techniques using point count method analysis were carried out a quantitative approach. In second year development, 27 birds found grassland, with Shannon-Wiener index (H') 2,479 (medium diversity), evenness 0.814 (even abundance), Pycnonotus aurigaster was had highest relative frequency abundance. Meanwhile, development TBGMK, 45 H' 3,237 (high E 0.926 srigunting kelabu (Dicrurus leucophaeus) results show success these locations through biodiversity design program.
