Abstract Acrylamide is a chemical compound that can be formed in some foods cooked at high temperatures. This substance has the potential to cause various health problems, although publications report findings contrary. The purpose of this study was analyze effect acrylamide consumption and strain type on crawling performance Drosophila melanogaster larvae: speed number beats. experimental divided into groups without consumption, 24 mg/kg bw/day 48 bw/day. In parameter, only factor had significant (F = 24.580, p < 0.001), while 0.706, 0.519) interaction factors did not have 0.782, 0.565). Strain also twitches 4.555, 0.043), administration 0.731, 0.508) two 0.426, 0.787) effect. results indicate does beats D. larvae, differences between strains impact. These implications for assessing risk toxicity human health. Genetic variation individuals influence individual sensitivity exposure.

Prominin-1 (PROM1), also called CD133, is a penta-span transmembrane protein that localized in membrane protrusions, such as microvilli and filopodia. It known to be expressed cancer stem cells various progenitor of bone marrow, liver, kidney, intestine. Accumulating evidence has revealed PROM1 multiple functions organs, eye, tooth, peripheral nerve, associating with molecular partners. regulates PKA-induced gluconeogenesis, TGFβ-induced fibrosis, IL-6-induced regeneration the Radixin, SMAD7, GP130, respectively. In addition, necessary maintain cell properties by activating PI3K β-Catenin. PROM1-deficienct mice show distinct phenotypes eyes, brain, nerves, tooth. Here, we discuss recent findings PROM1-mediated signal transduction. [BMB Reports 2023; 56(2): 65-70].
