Background: The university is an academic community of diverse disciplines saddled with the responsibility ensuring transfer knowledge to younger generation in a structured manner. aim this study was evaluate writings and associated impediments among academicians Port Harcourt, Nigeria over period three years. Materials Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional carried out educational institutions higher learning from November 2021 April 2022. total 438 staff were recruited using self-administered questionnaire multi-stage sampling technique. Collected data entered into Microsoft Excel® analyzed SPSS version 25 compute summary statistics. Chi-square test used differences proportions, association between variables, at significant level 5%. Results: mean age respondents 43.5years (95% CI = 42.69 or 44.27), while male: female ratio 2:1. Twenty-nine (5.8%) reported having published 50 more papers. majority (n 181, 36.1%) frequency publication as 2-4 publications per year. Lack funds for research (n=346, 69.1%), lack time 230, 52.5%), societal distractions 105, 24.0%), poor reference management software 102, 20.4%), most common impediments. Conclusion: This shows that challenges still exist idea conceptualization journal publication. Intensifying drive workshop manuscript writing highly recommended.
