The landscape of availability, policies, and norms around e-cigarette use cessation has changed rapidly in the last few years. There is also high interest quitting vaping among teens young adults. Understanding motivation those who want to quit important for effective intervention development. This analysis compares user-submitted reasons (RFQ) from 2022 a previous 2019 determine whether motivations have shifted people. We reviewed 2000 RFQ submissions users enrolled text message program 2022. Each response was coded by ≥ 2 researchers categorized into one 16 themes. Findings were compared using item-wise comparisons. most frequent health (56.1%), social influence (15.8%), other (11.7%). In comparison 2019, remained top reason, but rank order all shifted. Theme prevalence significantly, with cost decreasing increasing. Among health-related sub-categories, current mental increased submissions. people between observed greater concern about health, possibly experiencing negative impacts or awareness these impacts. lower may reflect widespread availability cheaper e-cigarettes. likely change fluctuating should be considered interventions, promotional campaigns, policy.

Abstract Since the early 2000s, there has been a turmoil on global illicit cannabinoid market. Parallel to legislative changes in some jurisdictions regarding herbal cannabis, unregulated and cheap synthetic cannabinoids with astonishing structural diversity have emerged. Recently, semi‐synthetic manufactured from hemp extracts by simple chemical transformations also appeared as recreational drugs. The burst of these into market was sparked United States, where cultivation industrial restarted. By now, hemp‐derived cannabidiol (CBD), initially blockbuster product its own, became “precursor” such hexahydrocannabinol (HHC), which drug 2021. synthesis cannabimimetic activity HHC were first reported eight decades ago quest for psychoactive principles marijuana hashish. Secondhand vaping exposure is an emerging public health concern that remains understudied. In this study, saliva and exhaled emissions from ENDS users (secondhand) non-ENDS (baseline) were collected, firsthand generated using automated aerosol generation system programmed to simulate puffing topography profiles collected users. Particulate concentrations sizes along with volatile organic compounds characterized. We revealed metrics as potential mediators of secondhand particle chemical exposures, well metabolic respiratory outcomes. Particle deposition modeling while displayed smaller deposited mass, total pulmonary fractions higher than levels, possibly due emission diameters. Lastly, untargeted metabolomic profiling salivary biomarkers lung injury exposures early indicators distress may also be relevant in bystanders exposed scenarios. By leveraging toxicology, we identified 10 metabolites, including leukotriene D4, could potentially serve for use, estimation, the prediction vaping-related disease. Although combustible cigarette smoking rates have declined in recent years, alternative tobacco product use, particularly electronic use ("vaping"), has increased among young adults. Recent studies indicate that vaping during pregnancy is on the rise, possibly due to perception it a safer smoking. However, e-cigarette aerosols may contain several newer, potentially toxic compounds, including some known developmental toxicants adversely impact both mother and fetus. there paucity of examined effects pregnancy. While adverse perinatal outcomes are well established, specific risks associated with inhaling requires more research. In this article, we discuss existing evidence knowledge gaps Studies investigate vaping-associated systemic exposure its (i.e., biomarker analyses) maternal neonatal clinical health needed reach robust conclusions. We emphasize need go beyond comparative cigarettes, advocate for research objectively evaluates safety e-cigarettes other products.

The outbreak of e-cigarette or vaping use-associated lung injury (EVALI) in the United States 2019 led to a total 2807 hospitalizations with 68 deaths. While exact causes this vaping-related illness are still being debated, laboratory analyses products from victims EVALI have shown that vitamin E acetate (VEA), an additive some tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)-containing products, is strongly linked outbreak. Because its similar appearance and viscosity pure THC oil, VEA was used as diluent agent cannabis oils illicit markets. A potential mechanism for may involve VEA's thermal decomposition product, ketene, highly poisonous gas, generated under conditions.
