Abstract In recent years, the demand for innovative, sustainable, and efficient food packaging solutions has surged in response to growing concerns about environmental impact, safety, quality preservation. A sericin-based polymer composite film with multifunctional properties shows promise as an alternative enhancing packaging. this study, films were prepared by incorporating Aloe vera gel, chitosan, glycerol into a sericin solution (1.5 % w/v) through facile homogenisation at 70 °C, followed casting subsequent drying on glass platform. The resulting dried exhibited uniformity, smooth texture, successful integration of components. demonstrated moisture content 21.02 porosity 3.56 %, thickness (62.1 ± 2.3) µm. It moderate transparency reasonable water vapour permeability. Notably, DPPH scavenging results indicated that potent antioxidant capacity efficacy rate 99.1 supported further phenolic 11.5 mg GAE per gram film. Controlled solute migration components from was observed, particularly under acidic conditions. Importantly, toxicity evaluation A549 cells revealed no adverse effects, even higher concentrations. Due its consistent film-forming ability, potency, controlled migration, safe nature, developed polymer-based could be effective sensitive foods, maintaining oxidative stability, reducing loss, improving quality, extending shelf life.
