The purpose of translation and interpreting (T&I) education is to cultivate professional academic competence among future practitioners researchers.Over the past few decades, various researchers have investigated topics such as authentic experiential learning (Kiraly & Massey, 2019), situated (González-Davies Raído, 2016), curriculum design (Álvarez-Álvarez Arnáiz-Uzquiza, 2017) a combination vocational practice research (Orlando, which indicates shift towards student-centred learning.Online learning, defined use digital devices support educational processes (Clark Mayer, 2016, p. 7), has gained prominence for fostering studentdirected learning.Its accessibility, flexibility abundant resources make online particularly attractive in academia, especially post-pandemic era.Recent studies explored effectiveness incorporating technologies into courses (Zhang Wang, 2022), transitioning face-to-face technology classes formats (Kodura, 2022) engaging collaborative tasks foster communities (Valentine Wong, 2021).Compared in-person distance education, whether synchronous or asynchronous, poses challenges instructors due lack direct supervision active engagement.However, there notable absence comprehensive guidance on developing T&I training professionalisation process students.Filling this void, Routledge Guide Teaching Translation Interpreting Online serves inaugural instalment series teaching.Written by two experienced translator/interpreter educators who draw their firsthand expertise programs, book sheds light intricacies pedagogy transformative journey both students.

This paper presents a study on the evaluation of hybrid learning and teaching practices by academics. A mixed research method involving questionnaire survey focus group interview was employed to gather academics’ feedback their experience in delivering instruction synchronous manner which on-site remote students attended classes simultaneously, students’ effectiveness, suggestions for improvement. The administered 76 academics from university Hong Kong where were implemented, involved 10 findings reveal that participating perceived themselves as having an overall high degree readiness handle technical issues. They expressed had lower levels interaction, engagement, motivation than those traditional face-to-face classes. participants also reported challenges regarding teaching, including heavy workload lesson preparation online classroom management, unfamiliarity with interactive design suitable classes, difficulties monitoring process. provided improvement ranging provision technological support professional development enhancing interaction engagement. These contribute revealing practising identifying ways address challenges.
