Abstract This study addresses the under-researched role of state-owned-enterprises (SOEs) in global value chains/production networks (GVCs/GPNs). It examines how economic performance, foreign trade, and capture Ukrainian firms – classified by ownership, position GVCs/GPNs, size, diversification their customer base have evolved following Russia’s occupation Crimea parts Donbas 2014. The reveals significant differences distribution SOEs, private, enterprises between aerospace/defence electro-engineering industries. Overall, since Russian aggression 2014, aerospace defence industries outperformed firms, largely due to strong state support. concludes with broader observations that while even intensive mutual trade could not prevent war, war does necessarily lead a complete cessation trade.

We examine the impact of Brexit on London as an international financial centre through lens global network (GFN) framework, using quantitative data selected key flows and stocks, well qualitative from interviews other sources. Our results show very limited impacts London, possible gains in New York USA rather than European Union. The are compatible with logic history sticky power network. Despite some relocations has not (yet) undermined London's attractiveness to business services, connectivity they afford centre. remains conductor offshore jurisdictions, a role which may be enhanced more flexible regulation after Brexit. Any forecasts about future need consider network, close relationships among its building blocks.

Abstract The withdrawal of the United Kingdom (UK) from European Union (EU) (known as “Brexit”) represented a challenge for labor markets on both sides. Hence, aim our paper is to assess impact this event unemployment rate in UK. Specifically, assesses difference between UK after Brexit and case would have remained EU. Moreover, it identifies economic factors that influenced monthly long short run since official happened February 2020. applies synthetic control method data period 1995-2022 under three types donor pools: sample includes all Old EU Member States (EU prior 2004 Enlargement), similar excludes Spain Greece pool based only neighbors provides most accurate results indicates lower, but non-significant absence compared real situation. On other hand, there long-run relationship inflation growth 2020 December 2022, while acts factor reduces unemployment.
