Mental health conditions in childhood and adolescence are increasing the U.S. population require early intervention, as highlighted by a recent Surgeon General’s Advisory on Protecting Youth Health. These issues, which have been exacerbated COVID-19 pandemic, impair functioning, may lead to longer term reductions quality of life. Young adolescents likely experience stressors including academic pressure, feelings loneliness isolation, excessive exposure social media, all made worse pandemic associated disruptions. Universal preventive programs at school serve an important strategy for equipping youth with coping skills address current future emotional challenges. Yoga mindfulness emerged promising approach schools proven feasible acceptable. The study evaluated universal, school-based yoga program among aged 11–14 racially diverse, urban setting United States. Outcomes interest included symptoms anxiety depression. Anxiety depression decreased intervention group, although these differences were not statistically significant. In control but increased. resulting time effect indicated significant decrease symptoms, while group revealed strong trend symptoms. Future research should investigate utility interventions larger population, subgroups, attention outcomes.

Background Many youth with significant mental health concerns face limited access to services. Digital programs, such as mobile apps designed address issues, have the potential expand strategies for managing these conditions. However, few are specifically experiencing severe concerns, suicidal ideation. BritePath is a new app developed enhance communication and interaction between providers at risk behavior. Objective This study aims explore care providers’ opinions regarding use of Methods We conducted individual semistructured interviews 17 across 7 states. Interviews were via video, recorded, transcribed. Codes using team-based approach, discrepancies resolved through team discussions. Results Most aware in general expressed interest trying patients depression, suicidality, or both. Analyses identified 4 key themes related apps: (1) almost all viewed an adjunct to, rather than replacement for, psychotherapy visits; (2) most concerned about cost them; (3) noted challenge maintaining patient engagement over time; (4) privacy, terms both data shared developers privacy within families. additional themes: believed that safety plans could be beneficial behavior; reported BritePath’s interactive features youth; appreciated flexibility ability tailor its content needs; integrating into clinical workflows systems. BACKGROUND Characterizing the relationship between sociodemographic factors and youth suicide risk is crucial for developing prevention strategies targeted interventions. OBJECTIVE We aimed to describe hospital-based suicide-risk screening sociodemographics (race ethnicity, sex, age, neighborhood socioeconomic status), discharge disposition, reuse rates in those with positive screens. METHODS This a retrospective study of patients aged 10 17 years hospitalized May 2021 2022 at freestanding children’s hospital Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Screening results were compared across groups using chi-square tests logistic regression. RESULTS Five thousand two hundred sixty-one encounters included, 83.2% (4375/5261) received screening. Stressful life events are associated with an increased risk of non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) in adolescence, but the mechanisms explaining this association unclear. Based on experiential avoidance model NSSI, and protective factor resilience, current study tested depression as a mediator resilience moderator association. Chinese adolescents ( N = 643; M age 15.91; 52.10 % female), anonymously completed self-report measures classrooms. Results showed that stressful was linked to adolescent NSSI part because depression, buffered effect. These findings can inspire practitioners pay attention interaction factors when providing prevention intervention for NSSI.
