(1) Background: In early May 2022, an increasing number of human monkeypox (mpox) cases were reported in non-endemic disparate regions the world, which raised concerns. Here, we provide a systematic review and meta-analysis mpox-confirmed patients presented peer-reviewed publications over 10 years before during 2022 outbreak from demographic, epidemiological, clinical perspectives. (2) Methods: A search was performed for relevant studies published Pubmed/Medline, Embase, Scopus, Google Scholar 1 January 2012 up to 15 February 2023. Pooled frequencies with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) assessed using random or fixed effect model due estimated heterogeneity true sizes. (3) Results: Out 10,163 articles, 67 met inclusion criteria, 31 cross-sectional included meta-analysis. Animal-to-human transmission dominant pre-2022 (61.64%), but almost all post-2022 had history contact, especially sexual contact. The pooled frequency MSM individuals 93.5% (95% CI 91.0-95.4, I2: 86.60%) only studies. male gender predominant both pre- outbreaks, mean age confirmed 29.92 (5.77-41, SD: 9.38). most common manifestations rash, fever, lymphadenopathy, malaise/fatigue. Objectives: This study aimed to analyze characteristics of mpox hospitalization in a Brazilian cohort, further exploring the impact HIV on mpox-related outcomes and hospitalization. Design: We conducted descriptive analysis, comparing individuals diagnosed with according status, described cases among those living HIV. Methods: was single-center, prospective cohort at major infectious diseases referral center Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, that enrolled participants older than 18 years age mpox. Information collected standardized forms, including data sociodemographic, behavioral, clinical laboratory characteristics. For comparisons, we used chi-squared, Fisher's exact Moods median tests whenever appropriate. Results: From June December, 2022, 418 mpox, whom 52% were people (PWH). PWH presented more frequently fever, anogenital lesions proctitis. The overall rate 10.5% ( n = 43), especially for pain control. Among hospitalized participants, had proctitis required invasive support. Mpox severity related poor continuum care low CD4 + cell counts. All deaths 2) occurred less 50 cells/μl. Conclusion: HIV-related immunosuppression likely impacts outcomes. is special concern settings adherence late presentation socioeconomic inequalities, such as Brazil. must be taken into account when responding outbreak.

We describe clinical epidemiological characteristics of 521 patients with mpox country. We conducted an observational analysis laboratory-confirmed Mpox cases between June 29 November 16, 2022.Most were young men living HIV. The evolution was primarily benign, two deaths reported. found some differences women regarding their BMI, presence lymphadenopathies, localization lesions, antecedent HIV infection.Although it seems that epidemic curve for this decreasing not only but globally, could remain endemic. Therefore, necessary to maintain very close surveillance.

Ophthalmic manifestations disease have been linked with more severe cases, leading need for hospitalization antiviral therapy. A systematic review meta-analysis were conducted following PRISMA guidelines summarize literature available on this topic. The revealed that ophthalmic manifestations, such as conjunctivitis periocular umbilicated lesions, are most common in infections. BACKGROUND In 2022, an outbreak of mpox that started in European countries spread worldwide through human-to-human transmission. Cases have been mostly mild, but severe clinical presentations reported. these cases, tecovirimat has the drug choice to treat patients with aggravated disease. OBJECTIVES Here we investigated susceptibility 18 isolates monkeypox virus (MPXV) obtained from different regions Brazil. METHODS Different concentrations were added cell monolayers infected each MPXV isolate. After 72 hours, cells fixed and stained for plaque visualization, counting, measurement. The ortholog F13L gene isolate was polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-amplified, sequenced, predicted protein sequences analyzed. FINDINGS eighteen generated plaques sizes. Although all highly sensitive drug, two showed response curves IC50 values. However, target tecovirimat, F13 (VP37), 100% conserved therefore does not explain difference sensitivity. MAIN CONCLUSIONS Our results support screening as important tool better use restricted number doses available low-income mpox.
