The Hunters of the Alpine Ice exhibition originated from a research collaboration between territorial archaeologists and first nation Mountain Dene, or Shúhtagot’ine, community Tulita, in Canada’s Northwest Territories (NWT). exhibit was part public communications component NWT Patch Study, which an International Polar Year (2007–2008) project.

The museum is housed in a historic building constructed 1912–1913, which was first the headquarters of Austro-Hungarian Bank, and later, Bank Italy. acquired by autonomous Province Bolzano 1980s, 1996 renovations began for its use as Archaeological Museum Alto Adige/Südtirol, inaugurated on 28 March 1998.

In June 2023, a new exhibition on glacial archeology, Frozen in Time, opened at the Norwegian Mountain Centre. Situated Lom, small town heart of mountain area southern Norway, national parks Reinheimen and Jotunheimen are only short drive away.

Archaeology Out of Ice (AOOI) is a traveling exhibit currently installed at the Yellowstone Gateway Museum in Livingston, Montana. AOOI was created by Craig M. Lee (Montana State University), Gregory Pederson (US Geological Survey), Dave McWethy Shane Doyle (Native Nexus), and Nathan Chellman (Desert Research Institute).
