Background and Aims: Stroke is the leading cause of seizures epilepsy in adults; however, current guidelines lack robust recommendations for treating post-stroke (PSSs) (PSE). This study aims to demonstrate long-term safety efficacy lacosamide combined with non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants (NOACs) patients PSE atrial fibrillation (AF). Methods: In this prospective longitudinal single-center study, 53 concomitant AF, admitted between 2022 2023, received NOACs AF management seizure control. A control group cardioembolic stroke, receiving (but without PSE), was matched by age, sex, NIHSS scores ensure comparability. Results: Over 24 months, 16 15 experienced new embolic events, no significant difference groups (p = 0.82). Seizure improved significantly group, reduced frequency severity. No severe adverse events from were observed. Conclusions: The combination a safe effective treatment does not increase risk recurrent ischemic or hemorrhagic events. Further studies larger sample sizes longer follow-ups are needed confirm these findings optimize protocols.

A post stroke seizure is a period of neurological dysfunction caused by abnormal neuronal activity. Seizures after have an impact on patients' lives and increase mortality in patients. It also has negative the prognosis stroke. However, there scarcity literature Ethiopia occurrence post-stroke seizures. Therefore, this study aimed to assess incidence predictors at Felege Hiwot compressive specialized hospital, North West Ethiopia. An institution-based retrospective follow-up was carried out Compressive Specialized Hospital, from July 1, 2017 June 30, 2021. The records 568 patients were reviewed using random sample method. To find seizures, we applied log-binomial regression model. The seizures 22.18%( 95% CI 18.83%-25.83%). Older age group (ARR = 2.49, 1.33-4.69), hemorrhagic 1.99, 1.25-3.17), surgical intervention 1.85, 1.22-2.81), tramadol medication 1.22-2.81) found be seizure. This revealed that high older age, haemorrhagic type stroke, management, use anti-pain are risk factors for health care professionals must pay special attention provide clinical who seizure.

Post-stroke epilepsy (PSE) is a common and significant complication that often occurs after stroke, affects patients' prognosis overall quality of life. In recent years, non-contrast computed tomography (NCCT) has become the preferred method for clinical diagnosis intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). This study aimed to develop validate triple deep-learning model, simply named, post-stroke network (PSENet), predict PSE in ICH patients based on NCCT. A total 1,130 (62 with 1,068 without PSE) who experienced an initial at our hospital were enrolled this study. Using five-fold cross-validation, all randomly divided into training validation sets ratio 4:1. Next, no-new-Net (nnU-Net) was used automatically segment subsequent quantitative analysis. model developed extract PSE-related features incorporate related cortical involvement (FCI) volume PSE. compared three models constructed using random forest. Model performance mainly evaluated area under curve (AUC). The nnU-Net had high Dice score 0.923. proposed PSENet, which incorporated multiple features, showed excellent diagnostic performance, accuracy 0.876, F1-score 0.621, recall 0.716, specificity 0.897, AUC 0.840, significantly surpassed baseline (AUC =0.787). Based findings, PSENet could be quickly first ICH, especially scenarios reliable information lacking admission.

This study aimed to investigate the alterations in intrinsic thalamic network patients with poststroke epilepsy (PSE) based on electroencephalography (EEG) source-level analysis. retrospective observational followed STROBE guidelines. Thirty-nine stroke and PSE 34 without were enrolled. These underwent EEG a resting state. Source localization scalp electrical potentials was computed using minimum norm imaging method standardized low-resolution brain electromagnetic tomography approach. To construct functional connectivity matrix, Talairach atlas used define nodes belonging thalamus, coherence applied measure synchronization as edges. The analyzed graph theory compared between PSE. analysis revealed notable differences From undirected weighted of modularity lower than those (0.038 vs 0.106, P = .024). Importance Poststroke epilepsy (PSE) is a major complication among young adults and associated with problems functional recovery daily life. Although scores have been developed to predict risk of PSE, they not validated patients stroke at age. Objectives To investigate both the factors for PSE age validate current cohort adults. Design, Setting, Participants This study used data from ODYSSEY (Observational Dutch Young Symptomatic Stroke Study), prospective conducted 17 hospitals in Netherlands between May 27, 2013, March 3, 2021, follow-up until February 28, 2024. included 1388 consecutive aged 18 49 years neuroimaging-proven ischemic or intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) without history epilepsy. Statistical analysis took place June August Exposure First-ever ICH. Main Outcomes Measures was defined as least 1 remote symptomatic seizure (>7 days). Cumulative incidence functions were calculate 5-year PSE. Fine-Gray regression models identify (age, sex, clinical stroke, neuroimaging variables). The performances SeLECT (severity large-artery atherosclerosis, early seizure, cortical involvement, territory middle cerebral artery) 2.0 score (for stroke) CAVE (cortical age, bleeding volume, seizure) ICH) assessed C statistics calibration bar plots. Results (ischemic 1231 [88.7%]; ICH, 157 [11.3%]; median 44.1 [IQR, 38.0-47.4 years]; 736 men [53.0%]; follow-up, 5.3 3.4-7.4 years]), whom 57 (4.1%) cumulative 3.7% (95% CI, 0.2%-4.8%) after 7.6% 3.5%-11.8%) Factors an acute (<7 days) (hazard ratio [HR], 10.83 [95% 2.05-57.07]; P = .005) involvement (HR, 5.35 1.85-15.49]; .002). only factor ICH 8.20 2.22-30.25]; statistic 0.78 0.71-0.84) 0.83 0.76-0.90) score, good scores. Conclusion suggests that relatively low similar variables existing scores, which can therefore also be applied stroke. Future trials should optimal primary secondary prophylaxis high risk.
