Technological developments have inspired many scholars and other professionals to envision the possibilities that digital data technologies bring future of education. However, some aspects this so‐called datafication may conflict with local characteristics education systems. In study, we investigate imaginaries datafied in context a welfare state system. By interviewing Finnish experts (<em>N</em> = 25<span class="fontstyle2">) from various sectors, looked beyond official policies explore multi‐perspective views national‐level stakeholders. Through thematic analysis, constructed four 1st order sociotechnical illustrate anticipated impacts on education, specifically it makes (a) easier (b) more coherent, (c) maximises learning, (d) enhances visibility. visions involve recognising assessing consequences imaginaries. These 2nd broaden spectrum perspectives highlight pluralism educational futures. Thus, results did not give rise single coherent or holistic “imaginary” but, instead, highlighted different these imaginaries, were able identify key system, such as trust strong role public sector, be subject negotiation process. development our goal is create space for an inclusive debate thereby contribute promotion sustainable education.</span>
