Teacher Induction in Schools as Learning Communities: Successful Pathways to Teachers’ Professional Development in a Diverse School Serving Students Living in Poverty

Teacher
induction
has
been
an
object
of
interest
in
teacher
education
and
professional
development,
mostly
as
a
result
the
analysis
difficulties
faced
coping
strategies
developed
by
newly
qualified
teachers.
However,
specific
mechanisms
to
facilitate
teachers’
when
being
appointed
schools
working
under
challenging
contexts
have
less
explored.
This
study
aims
explore
potential
community-based
school
model
named
Schools
Learning
Communities
induct
new
teachers
help
them
embrace
school’s
project.
A
single
case
was
conducted
high-poverty
located
Barcelona
(Spain).
Data
collection
included
observations
interviews
with
management
team.
Findings
highlight
two
main
features
that
induction:
dialogic
approach
development
participation
family
community
members
school,
which
operates
pedagogical
resource.
Furthermore,
our
results
reveal
this
successful
pathway
for
mission
become
agents
transformation
who
contribute
project’s
sustainability.
The
offers
lessons
on
how
support
join
diverse
serving
students
living
poverty.

It
has
been
almost
two
decades
since
inclusive
education
was
incorporated
in
Qatar’s
system,
during
which
the
country
heavily
invested
enhancing
its
education.
In
this
study,
we
examine
efforts
through
lens
of
special
teachers’
self-efficacy
and
their
knowledge
learning
disabilities.
We
surveyed
137
teachers
to
determine
five
areas:
classroom
management,
instructional
strategies
accommodations,
building
relationships
with
students
disabilities,
effects
on
student
learning,
ability
promote
acceptance
among
community
those
also
examined
fundamental
issues
about
disabilities
three
nature
characteristics,
service
delivery
intervention,
information
sources.
Although
overall
ratings
beliefs
were
low,
scores
high
for
female
teachers,
less
experience,
some
younger
teachers;
these
are
promising
workforce
strengths
should
be
capitalized
upon.
The
reported
though
they
emphasized
students’
behavioural
difficulties
over
academic
ones
saw
challenges
more
student-centred
than
teacher-
or
system-focused.

intelligence

learners
