Abstract Purpose Color vision deficiency (CVD) is a common disorder. It predominantly caused by inherited photopigment abnormalities in the retina. The absolute number of cases with CVD expected to increase worldwide growing population. Methods Data from male military conscripts for recruitment period 2008 2017 were retrospectively analyzed. Year recruitment, conscriptsʼ birth year, visual acuity, refractive status (spherical equivalent), and color (normal Ishihara pseudoisochromatic plates test yes/no) available. Results dataset comprised data on total 355 657 who had undergone between years 2017. mean per year was 35 566 (MD = 440, SD 1 249), reaching minimum count 33 998 maximum 37 594 2011. age at 19.7 19.0 y, 1.1 y). Among conscripts, 337 422 (94.9%) successfully passed test, while 18 235 (5.1%) found have CVD. Conclusion overall prevalence our cohort 5.1%. This figure slightly lower than that reported European Caucasian

Published: April 1, 2024

BACKGROUND Telemedicine applied to ophthalmology has been developed since 1960s, however, it only had a greater evolution and wide-scale implementation in 2020 with the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). Since then, dozens of software applications have evaluate different aspects visual function. OBJECTIVE This study aimed application tests carried out through telemedicine acuity, color vision, field patients all Brazilian regions METHODS An observational, cross-sectional, retrospective was out. A convenience sample made up evaluated by Eyecare Health clinic via between months October 2023 January 2024. All these were employees multinational an occupational context (admission, periodic dismissal consultations). The inclusion criteria age over 18 years old exclusion incomplete or unavailable medical records. performed three online tests: Best Corrected Visual Acuity (Eyecare Test ®), test evaluation Color Vision Test®) remote confrontation perimetry. Data analysis on DATAtab Online Statistics Calculator (2023, Austria). described as measures frequency, absolute numbers, percentages, mean, standard deviation (when applicable). RESULTS 2197 from evaluated. 91.81% male mean 37 years. 17.10% never undergone ophthalmological evaluation. acuity ® 0.2logMar for both eyes (± 0.16). Test® detected prevalence 2.28% vision deficiency. Confrontation perimetry showed 3.23% defects. CONCLUSIONS Tele-ophthalmology proven be important ally widespread access eye health, especially countries unequal health services. In our we assessed remotely test, field. We found eyes, blindness These findings reaffirm highlight importance tele-ophthalmology detection screening diseases.
